Medical Chat

There are various sites on the internet for real time or bulletin board format chatting that can provide information and emotional support. Try checking out some of the places listed below, but once again remember to consult with your doctor on information that you find.

For a daily update of "live question and answer chat sessions" with doctors or health professionals visit Weekday Chat Schedule for a listing of weekly scheduled live moderated discussion sessions.

For daily listings of today's health chats and live happenings on the web visit Yahoo Chat Event Center. Also check out their Health Chat Page.

There is a Health and Medicine Chat at WBS. You need to register then under the "Home & Support" community, click "Support" and choose "Health and Medicine". Then choose your chat mode, I recommend streaming or no frames. Once in the chat, then you can bookmark that page so you won't have to sign in each time. If you chose no frames, I recommend leaving the refresh rate at 0, otherwise you might not have enough time to type your message. There are also several other support oriented chats at this site, including the following groups: Cancer Support, Disabled, Eating Disorders, Alanon, and Support for Large People.

Every Wednesday from 9:00pm EST to 10:30pm EST at WBS's channel Psych Central you can chat with online psychologist John Grohol, Psy.D. or catch him on IRC's (Internet Relay Channels) mental health chats every Monday night, from 9 - 10:00pm EST. Log on to an undernet IRC server and join channel: #psych
