Shintax is Cefotaxime sodium, parenteral third generation cepholosporin and has a bactericidal effect with broad spectrum

MODE OF ACTION
Shintax inhibits the third and final round of bacterial cell wall synthesis by preferentially binding to the specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBP) located in the cell wall which in turn causes the death of the bacteria.

INDICATIONS
Prophylaxis & treatment of most of the surgical infections. In gyne & obs for use in pre- and post-partal infections as well as in all gyne Infections. In RTI, Meningitis, Septicemia, Pneumonia, TUI, SSTI, Intra-abdominal infections & peritonitis.                

DOSAGE
Recommended dose is 1gm im or iv every 12 hourly. In severe infections 3-6 gram in 3-4 divided doses up to 12 gram daily. In children and neonates 50-100mg/kg in 3-4 divided doses.

CONTRAINDICATION
Hypersensitivity to Cephalosporin and penicillin
